Taking my pictures for reference plate.

Firstly I took a front view and side view of my face. This was to get every angle I would need.

To make sure that they were lined up well, I made a mark behind me, or matched up something so that my nose was in the same position in both pictures. This would help me later on when trying to match the photos together.

It was important that I had my hair up otherwise it would make it more difficult when modelling my face.

I had to remove any distortion introduced by the lens as it causes barrel distortion, so I removed this distortion to produce a flatter image.

I then opened up photoshop and imported both pictures onto the screen on different layers. I made sure that both fit on the screen to do this they were both at 75%, and both fitted next to each other so they could be worked on at the same time.

I made sure that the grids were showing, this helped me when trying to make sure both views matched up.

When both views are side by side I could see whether they matched up well. I merged the two images together and made sure the key features lined up.This gives you two points of reference when modelling later . I used the rotate button at the top as my head was slightly tilted to one side. I tilted them until they roughly matched up.

A good tool to use when trying to match up features was the rulers tool. I selected view and brought them on tho the screen by dragging them into position from the X and Y axes.

I took one photo and set the opacity lower so you can see the face behind it. Using the rules I took features such as my nose and eyes and chin to line them up with the other image.. ‘Control T’ put me into free transform mode, I rotated the image slightly, and moved the centre to the reference point, so they line up all ref points at same time.
